I'm looking to make a model of the Bugara and could use some historical photos, preferably when she was sporting two deck guns. I would also be glad to have anyone chime in on any of the ships details. The internet doesn't have much, but here's a quick list of some of the reference material I'm already using.-
The Electric Boat photo when she was launched in July, 1944.-
http://www.navsource.org/archives/08/0833104.jpgA photo of the world war two battle flag.-
http://www.navsource.org/archives/08/0833106.jpgA airplane reconnaissance photo during torpedo practice in Panama Bay January, 1945.-
http://www.navsource.org/archives/08/0833107.jpgWar patrol reports.-
http://issuu.com/hnsa/docs/ss-331_bugara?mode=a_pAn ordinance pamphlet with drawings for the 5 inch gun mount mark 40.-
http://www.hnsa.org/doc/fiveinch25/index.htmAnother document with drawings of the 40mm wet mount.-
http://www.hnsa.org/doc/boforssub/index.htmA navy document illustrating the measure 32/3ssB (light grey) and measure 32/9ss (dark grey) paint schemes.-
http://www.researcheratlarge.com/Ships/SS/1944JulySSCamouflage.htmlThe fleet type submarine training manual from just after the war has lots of illustrations of ships systems, but doesn't provide many exterior details.-
http://www.hnsa.org/doc/fleetsub/index.htmHere are some questions someone may have answers for.-
Did the number eight remain painted on the deck?
What are the actual colors of the battle flag, is the picture accurate?
Which grey paint scheme did the Bugara have?
There are lots of photos of other Gata and Balao boats, but the details from boat to boat vary. I may have to use other boats for reference, though I'd prefer not to.
